Psonic Studios is now changed to Psoaic

Updated: Oct 5, 2023

Hey there, everyone! Axl Jet Baños here and I have an announcement that Psonic Studios has been renamed to Psoaic as a current company name.

Before being picked up by an Australia-based company and rebranded into Psonic Studios and later Psoaic, I will tell you about the history and timeline of the company name I dreamed of along with other game projects I just planned. There was once a company name called Psonic, which is derived from an acronym for "Project Service of Originality and Nicely Integrated Conception/Creation". This idea came from my mind since 2008 for planning game projects I wanted to create using certain game engines like Game Maker for example. The logo design of this name below is representatively shown as the bolded version of my favorite typeface: Arial.

In 2011, it was still used by the time the Space Invaders-inspired game known as Invaderoid was successfully developed and released to the public via my website, which is created using the web hosting service called Webs.

In 2013, the development of the top-down shooter game project titled Space Monsters had been started from scratch using MS Paint and Game Maker, and was under the name of the developer and publisher Psonic, which was still used to this year. While developing Space Monsters, SVR, which stands for Star Voyager Resistant, had started its development phase as a horizontal scrolling shooter game project under the name Psonic. Until the year 2015, Space Monsters was finished and released under the game publisher of the same name via the Space Monsters Tribute Site, which is also made with Webs. With the recent release of this game, a major update was planned as an expansion for the 2015 release, but was moved to 2016 due to the problem with the motherboard of my desktop CPU and a lot of worktimes in updating the game to the latest version, and Psonic is also used.

In 2017, I started the development phase of a vertical scrolling shooter game project titled Space Warrior. By the time in the year 2018, my brother-in-law Fra and I were discussing about the mobile gaming trend instead of PC gaming as it is used for monetizing mobile applications with Admob, a mobile app monetization application programming interface (API), and earning money thanks to in-app advertisements along with microtransactions. In 2019, the development of Geometron, the color-matching puzzle video game with shooter elements, had started under the same company name I used.

In 2020, I'd started the development of Paddloid, the Breakout-inspired game for mobile devices, with the use of another game engine: Clickteam Fusion 2.5. Also, Artistic Forces is proposed as a PC-exclusive real-time strategy game under the company name Psonic using the Unity game engine. In 2021, I just started developing the light gun shooter game known as Target Shot exclusively for mobile devices, making it another mobile game project. Starting on August 2022, Galactempest, a fixed and tube shooter game that revives the tube shooter subgenre, was already started out with an early development as a mobile game project under the name Psonic. Aside from that platform during its development, the PC version of this game was later added.

Unfortunately though, starting on November 9, 2022, Fra told me that according to the search results in Google, the name Psonic was already taken by the Australian Sydney-based software company since its formation in 2013 before its acquisition by a large global network hardware company in 2020. So I had to change its name Psonic to Psonic Studios (stylized as PSONIC STUDIOS in all caps), including its logo, as it perfectly fits for a computer and video game developer and publisher as it focuses more on game development, distribution, music composition, sound designs, game designs, publishing, and a lot more ideas related to computer and video game industry, including selling physical and digital services and merchandising.

With the recent PC release of Galactempest since March 2023 and its major update on later date (May 2023), I was thinking about renaming Psonic Studios to something else like POSAIC, PSOCAI, and so on. In conclusion, what I really and finally chose is Psoaic. Like its previous name, as this one suggests, it is very useful for computer and video game development and publishing as well as making imageries and artworks (including 2D art and sprites), graphics designing, 3D modelling, animating characters and objects, processing visual effects, scriptwriting, planning, creating game designs, sound designing, composing music, voice acting, and even selling services, merchandises, soundtracks, and other assets we have both physically and digitally.

For those who do not know, the name Psoaic comes from the acronym for "Projects, Services, Originalities/Organization, Arts, Ideas/Interactivities, and Concepts/Creations" or in this case, you can call it "Project Service of Originality, Arts, Ideas/Interactivity, and Conception/Creativity". As a result, this name, along with its logo design, is mainly used while some game projects I have are in development just before the announcement of each future project.

Yeah, its current name sounds interesting as a name for the computer and video game company. So there you have it, people! The topic about the name change from Psonic Studios to Psoaic as its current form. Thanks for reading!
